What´s the "new normal" for travelers?

Corona finally seems to be regulated in a lot of European countries but how does traveling within the European Union look like? The pandemic has been and still is a major setback for the tourism industry. It is one of the industries that most suffered from a decrease of around 60%. The industry started to recover with domestic tourism and now since more and more borders, open companies try to trigger people with special discounts and offers.

The majority of countries opened their borders on the 15th of June, but with several restrictions. What has changed for travelers?

Portugal has opened its borders on the 1st of July for international travelers even though in order to be able to enter you need to present a negative COVID-test taken a maximum 72 hours prior to the travel.

Other countries such as Italy, France, and Bulgaria have restricted a 14-days quarantine for some European but mostly none-European countries.

Taking a look outside of the EU plenty of countries are still fighting against the virus and maintain their borders closed and are still in partial lockdown. In Argentina for example there are no international and domestic commercial flights allowed until September as well as Bolivia and Costa Rica until the end of July.

While New Zeeland is one of the first Corona-free countries their borders are still closed for all travelers.

Even though a lot of countries have opened their borders traveling did change and there is a new normal in traveling for sure. Wearing a face mask during flight and at airports, hygiene restrictions in hotels and restaurants, no big events, and restrictions in common areas will be part of our post-corona travel for a long time.

We highly suggest you to check the countries government website before planning a trip and respect local restrictions. Some countries might be open to tourists but still, have their beaches, restaurants, and bars closed.

Stay safe and keep traveling
